Teacher can you give me some examples of For and Since please,i dont understand it very good
ReplyDeleteDear Elena, of course.
DeleteSince is used with SPECIFIC periods of time or to indicate the exact moment when something happened.
For, on the contrary, is used with GENERAL periods of time, so the time reference is not exact, you will never know exactly which days, or months or years.
Examples:
SINCE: since Monday (exact day), since February (exact month), since I was a child (the moment something started, specific), since 1992 (exact year), since last weeks (specific, the last one, not another one)
FOR: for months (general, we don't know which months exactly), for 2 years (general, it's true that it specifies 2 years but we don't know which ones "1992 and 1993?, 2000 and 2001"?), for two weeks (the same with the years, we don't know if they are the last two weeks or some weeks years ago)
Do you understand it better now? I HOPE SO! :D
thanks teacher
